MANHATTAN — One of three men authorities believe funneled money to attempted Times Square car bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad denied any connection to the alleged terrorist on Monday, reported the AP.

Barry Hoffman, Pakistan’s consul general in Boston, met with Aftab Khan, 27, in his jail cell on Monday, where the Pakistani native is being held on immigration charges, the AP reported.

“He doesn’t have any connection to him [Shahzad],” Hoffman said, according to the AP. “He’s never spoken to him, doesn’t know him.”

Hoffman added that Khan — a gas station attendant who has lived in Watertown, Mass. since coming to the US eight months ago — is a “scared young man” who doesn’t understand why he was arrested last Thursday.

The visit by the Pakistani consul general’s office was routine for a Pakistani citizen arrested in the U.S.

Khan, who is accused of overstaying his visa, asked Hoffman to arrange for an imam to visit him in jail, reported the Press Association.

“He’s a troubled fellow speaking very little English and wondering what’s happening,” said Hoffman, the Press Association reported.
