MANHATTAN — Parents who worry their children may be involved in gang activity can learn how to spot the warning signs at a workshop Thursday night in Washington Heights.

"Gangs: 101," co-sponsored by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr., and the 34th Precinct, will teach parents about how gangs recruit new members, what behaviors to look out for and how to react if you suspect your child is in a gang.

Officials from the School Safety and Gang Divisions of the NYPD, as well as the Manhattan D.A.'s office will speak at the meeting, to be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m in the Eleanor Roosevelt Junior High School at 515 W. 182nd St.

The workshop's announcement comes in the wake of the highly publicized Times Square riot that stirred fears about gang-related crime early this month.
