MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A Saudi citizen charged with kidnapping, raping and robbing an older man on the Upper West Side after meeting him at a club in February 2009 will likely stand trial this week.

Naief Al-Mateiry, 28, allegedly beat and sodomized his 69-year-old victim at the man's apartment on W. 99th Street and forced him to take out $1,000 from the ATM at knifepoint, the Daily News reported.

Al-Mateiry has remained at Rikers Island on $50,000 bail, although the Saudi embassy tried reportedly tried to bail him out, an offer the judge rejected.

Jury selection in the trial began last week after Al-Mateiry refused a plea deal that would put him in prison for 10 years, according to the New York Post.

The alleged attacker faces up to 25 years in prison if he is convicted.
