HELL’S KITCHEN — A body was found floating in the Hudson River near West 52nd Street Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police and medical personnel responding to the scene near Pier 92 retrieved the unidentified body of a man at about 1:35 p.m., the NYPD said.

“The man had black hair, and he floated up right near shore,” said Leo, a construction worker who was welding a fence near the pier at the time, but declined to provide his last name.

“He was wearing sneakers, jeans and a sweater," he said, and "he looked like he had been there awhile.”

Leo said he and his fellow workers at the scene arrived just before police and medical responders recovered the body.

The medical examiner's office is investigating the cause of death.
