MANHATTAN —Talk about a dynasty.

With a win against St. Raymond Ravens, the Rice Raiders notched their fifth consecutive CHSAA New York Archdiocesan tournament title.

Junior Jermaine Sanders scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the first half as the third-ranked Rice Raiders cruised to a 78-59 win over St. Raymond on Monday night.

Sanders got some help from down low, as Kadeem Jack put up a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds in the win.

“They just crushed us on the boards,” St. Raymond coach Oliver Antigua told the New York Daily News. “Physically we weren’t ready for this game.”

For the Ravens, it was an uphill battle from the start. Starting guard Jattone Pierce-Bias was sidelined after injuring his foot against All Hallows on Saturday and sophomore floor leader Kerwin Okoro fought through a bruised thigh, the New York Post reported.

The injuries were devastating for thin St. Raymond's team has six players tossed off the team after an incident last summer.

“We really played hard, but they were relentless on us all night long,” St. Raymond’s coach Oliver Antigua told the Post. “They don’t let up.”

The win gives Rice the top seed in the CHSAA Intersectionals. They’ll take on Xavierian on Friday at Christ The King in Queens.
