MANHATTAN — The newest top dog in Manhattan is Sadie the Scottish terrier, who won Best in Show at the 134th Westminster Dog Show Tuesday night.

The perky pup beat out six other dogs including a doberman pinscher, a toy poodle and a French bulldog, to claim the top prize at the Madison Square Garden competition.

"A dog of this quality only comes along once every 10 years," judge Elliott Weiss told the New York Post.

Four-year-old Sadie almost had to share her limelight; just before the final judging, two PETA protesters walked into the ring with signs that read "Mutts rule" and "Breeders kill shelter dogs' chances" drawing gasps and boos from the crowd of 15,000 people, the Associated Press reported.

The interruption was not aired during the live television broadcast.

The two women were led away by security and charged with criminal trespassing, the AP said.

Sadie came into the show as the No. 1-ranked dog with 111 best in show wins already under her collar.

"She showed flawlessly," Sadie's handler, Gabriel Rangel, said after the win. "Just to be with her was so exciting."

This was her third time at Westminster. Last year, she peed on the floor during the competition.
