MANHATTAN — Wrap it up in style, New York.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has revealed the five finalists for a new New York City condom design contest. More than 600 condom wrapper designs were submitted to a panel headed by fashion designer Kenneth Cole.

"Safe sex and good manners go hand in hand," one of the finalists, Financial District resident Russell Greenberg, said on the contest's Web site about his package design featuring a top hat. "And nothing symbolizes chivalry quite like a top hat."

Another finalist, East Village resident Yujin Lee, designed her entry like a disco ball, with lots of bright colors, to reflect New Yorkers coming together to protect each other.  "Together we can protect New York City," she said on the site.

New Yorkers can pick between the five designs on the health department’s Web site. The voting ends February 28.

The New York City condoms are distributed around the city or can be ordered online.
