MANHATTAN — An accused serial cat killer admitted to breaking the neck of a feline named Bonafide and pleaded guilty Monday to animal cruelty and criminal contempt charges.
Sean Lynde's victims also allegedly included Cleo, Zoe, Willie, Betty and Emo, all beloved cats that belonged to an ex-girlfriend with whom he used to live, prosecutors said. The Manhattan man did not admit to harming the other animals.
Lynde, 37, severely abused the animals until they died or had to be put down, prosecutors said. He was also later accused of harassing his ex-girlfriend through Craigslist.
Lynde, who originally hails from Maine, will face no jail time, but he must attend weekly therapy for a year and will be monitored closely by authorities.
The graphic designer and former roadie for the alternative rock band Guster must also stay away from his ex-girlfriend and her dog, Sasha, who survived their relationship.
