It was the night for Beyonce and the Single Ladies, as she, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga led the winners at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards Sunday night.

Beyonce took home six statues, including Song Of The Year one for her hit song "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" and pop vocal performance of the year for "Halo," to set a Grammy record for most awards won by a female artist on one show.

"This has been such an amazing night for me," she said while accepting the award for "Halo." "I'd love to thank my family for all of their support, including my husband (Jay-Z), I love you. And I'd like to thank all of the fans for their support over the years."

While Beyonce was a big winner, 20-year-old Swift was the darling of the show. The young country-pop sensation who won four awards for her album "Fearless", including the trophy for Album Of The Year, appeared emotional on stage.

“When we're 80 years old and we're telling the same stories over and over to our grandkids and they're so annoyed with us, this is the story we're going to be telling over and over again," she said. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

New York native star Lady Gaga won two awards, and put on a showstopping performance of her hit song "Poker Face" which segued into a piano duet with Elton John of "Your Song" which she paired with "Speechless", with their faces smeared with paint.

While Gaga rocked it out, another noteworthy performance of the night was a 3-D tribute to Michael Jackson featured Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood singing along with Jackson’s recorded voice in “Earth Song.”

Jackson’s two oldest children, Prince and Paris, accepted their father’s lifetime achievement award. “We’d also like to thank the fans, our father loved you so much because you were always there for him,” Prince said.

As his wife was busy taking up the hardware, Jay-Z joined Rihanna and Kanye West as winners for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Run This Town."

It was a triumphant return to the Grammy stage for Rihanna, whose trip to the awards show last year was canceled after her then-boyfriend Chris Brown attacked her.
