LOWER MANHATTAN –– Pace University announced on Wednesday it had received eight federal stimulus awards totaling $1.8 million to fund research and community projects.
The grants will send Pace University students into the community to work at after-school programs, and as classroom assistants, tutors, college counselors, and instructors in English and U.S. citizenship courses, according to a Pace University press release.
Numerous community organizations have been pinched by the economic crisis and have had to cut back on operation hours and staff cutbacks, the university stated.
