MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A police impersonator with a phony NYPD uniform and badge brought a woman who asked him for subway directions to the rooftop of the Wagner Houses in East Harlem and threatened to kill her if she didn't comply with his sexual demands, prosecutors said Monday.
Michael Flores, 40, of Staten Island told his 18-year-old victim from the Bronx he would help her find her way home if she followed him from the 125th Street subway station at Lexington Avenue. In addition to the uniform, he wore a fake badge and other police insignia, according to the criminal complaint.
He led her to the 16th floor of a building in the East Harlem housing project, trapped her and ordered her to disrobe, police said.
"You have two choices: either do as I say or I am going to kill you right now," Flores allegedly told the woman.
The woman got away by pushing the suspect and running to safety, police said.
Flores was arraigned Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court. He is charged with kidnapping, attempted rape, burglary and criminal impersonation.
