MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT — The "Teflon Son" is officially off the hook.
The U.S. Attorney's office will not re-try the murder and racketeering case against John Gotti, Jr., whose fourth trial in five years resulted in a hung jury last month, according to an announcement Wednesday.
"In light of the circumstances, the Government has decided not to proceed with the prosecution against John A. Gotti," the U.S. Attorney's office said in a statement.
Federal prosecutors filed a notice with the court indicating their decision to dispose of the case against Gotti.
Gotti, 45, was reportedly the boss of the Gambino crime family following the incarceration and death of his father, John Gotti, Sr.
His most recent trial was declared a mistrial on Dec. 1, 2009.
