MANHATTAN — A 48-year-old pedestrian was killed early Monday when two trucks crashed at a Park Avenue intersection, striking him as he crossed the street, police said.
The victim, who authorities have not identified, was struck as he waited to cross the street at the corner of Park Avenue and 50th Street at about 5:15 a.m., police said.
A box truck traveling south on Park Avenue began turning left onto 50th Street when it hit a pickup truck traveling north on Park Avenue. The box truck then hit the man on the corner.
Paramedics arrived and took the man to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the pickup, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of back pain and was in stable condition, police said.
Police have not announced any charges or summonses in the crash. Their investigation is ongoing.
