Big Apple Buzz: Ashlee Simpson Irks Fellow 'Chicago' Cast Members

Not all of Ashlee Simpson's "Chicago" cast members are happy about her Broadway debut.

The songstress made her debut at the Ambassador Theatre on Monday night and formed a "makeshift VIP section" in the Time Hotel at an after-party for the show. "It's not like this is a club in L.A.," a castmember told the New York Daily News. [nydailynews.com]

Beyoncé won the most nominations for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. She scored 10 nods when nominations were announced Wednesday on CBS. Taylor Swift, Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas and Maxwell all earned six nominations. [ew.com]

Dave Chappelle made a surprise visit to Caroline’s on Broadway to see his "Chappelle's Show" cast mate Charlie Murphy perform.

Chappelle kept the laughs going with a 30-minute stand-up routine. [nypost.com]

Natalie Portman told Marie Claire for the just released January cover story that she was a good girl growing up.

"OK, so I didn't really go to high school parties," she said, "and yeah, I didn't touch pot till I was in my 20s. I didn't get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that's a good thing in many ways." [marieclaire.com]

The Sundance Film Festival announced a schedule of competition films on Wednesday. Under new leadership, festival programmers said they chose "risky" films such as “Blue Valentine” from a little-known director and “Howl” on Allen Ginsberg’s inspiration. [nytimes.com]
