A police car clearing the road for Vice President Joe Biden's motorcade crashed into a livery cab Tuesday as he made his way to a taping of "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart.

Biden was riding in the motorcade about 10 minutes behind the car and was not involved in the crash.

The unmarked police car crashed into the cab shortly before 6 p.m. at West 49th Street and Tenth Avenue when the livery cab tried to go around a blockade set up by the NYPD, the New York Post reported.

Three people, including two police officers and the cab driver, were taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries, according to the New York Times.

Staff told Biden about the accident after he finished taping the Daily Show and he called one of the injured officers from Air Force Two, the paper reported.

The accident marked the third time in two weeks that Biden's motorcade and official vehicles have been involved in car crashes.

On Monday, an Albuquerque sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a woman tried a similar maneuver around a blockade set up for Biden's motorcade and ran into the police car.

A Maryland man was killed Nov. 11 by secret service agent driving the armored vehicles used in the Vice President's motorcade to a secure facility, reported The Hill.

Biden was not in the vehicles at the time.
