Every two years, the Point-in-Time Homeless Count uses a team a volunteers to canvass the city and track how many homeless people are here. The data is used as a basis for federal funding, resource planning and to raise awareness about homelessness.

The Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) at 1615 W. Chicago Ave. will host five volunteer trainings (see below) during the month of January.  The formal count will take place 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Jan. 22. Call Kathy Booton at 773-638-6392 or email homelesscount@cityofchicago.org for more information.
