CHICAGO — The Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Road, will open all afternoon and evening Tuesday to celebrate Halloween with an escape room and free horror films, all leading up to an 8 p.m. screening of the 1968 zombie classic "Night of the Living Dead," organizers announced.

The theater will begin showing "Halloween-themed cartoons, music videos and short features" starting at 4 p.m., and will remain open until 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, visitors can take photos in a "zombie apocalypse photo station," or trick-or-treat with in-house "zombies" set to hand out popcorn, according to an announcement.

The escape room company Insanity Escape will set up in the theater, offering guests chances to "escape a zombie quarantine unit before getting attacked by zombies," organizers said. Tickets for the experience can be reserved online.

Earlier this month, the theater held a "grand re-opening" to announce that it would start hosting movies and events multiple times per week.

It later canceled a planned event with alt-right author Milo Yiannopoulos after the booking drew a fierce backlash.
