CHICAGO — Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time when driving through the Jane Byrne Interchange this weekend.

Beginning Saturday night, the Illinois Department of Transportation will be making changes to the traffic pattern that will require overnight lane closures on the Eisenhower Expy., according to a news release.

• Between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, the left lane of the expressway will be closed from Ashland Avenue to Halsted Street.

• From 1-7 a.m. Sunday, three lanes will be closed on the expressway. Congress Parkway will be accessible during the closures.

• From 1-7 a.m. Sunday, the ramp carrying traffic from the Eisenhower to the northbound Kennedy Expy. will be completely closed. A detour will direct drivers to take southbound ramp to the Dan Ryan Expy., exit at 18th Street then re-enter at the northbound ramp of the Dan Ryan Expy.

The changes to the traffic pattern will close one lane of the Eisenhower Expy. between Racine Avenue and Harrison Street. The ramp that carries motorists south from the Eisenhower Expy. to the Dan Ryan will be reduced from two lanes to one, IDOT said.

The new configuration will allow for construction of new drainage structures, IDOT said.
