CHICAGO — A 7-year-old girl was critically wounded in an accidental shooting in Calumet Heights on Sunday, police said.
At 3:02 p.m., the girl was inside a home in the 9100 block of South Blackstone Avenue when she was somehow shot accidentally, police said. The girl was hit in her chest.
The girl was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, police said. Her condition was stabilized while at the hospital.
A gun was found inside the home, police said.
Officers are investigating the incident and the Department of Children and Family Services was informed of the shooting.
