Sharrod Peoples, 26, Killed In Ashburn Shooting; 1 Other Wounded

CHICAGO — A shooting in Ashburn left one man dead and another wounded Friday afternoon, police said.

At 3:57 p.m., the men were sitting in a car in the 8000 block of South California Avenue when someone walked up to them and fired shots, police said.

One man, 26, was hit multiple times. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Sharrod Peoples, of the 8700 block of South Throop Street, was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The other man, also 26, was hit in his bicep. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody.
