Melvin Howard Jr., 23, Dies 3 Months After Being Shot In Roseland

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man died Wednesday three months after he was shot in Roseland, officials said.

At 9:19 p.m. June 28, Melvin Howard Jr. was outside in the 10200 block of South State Street when three people walked up to him, police said. One of the people fired shots.

Howard Jr., of the 400 block of West 100th Street, was pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m. Friday at RML Specialty Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy showed Howard died from complications of a gunshot wound in his head in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
