LOGAN SQUARE — Some of the neighborhood's top bars and eateries are banding together for a fundraising event to help bring a dog park to Kosciuszko Park.
The fundraiser will go from 7-11 p.m. Oct. 20 at Elastic Elastic Arts, 3429 W. Diversey Ave.
The folks from The Whistler, Scofflaw, Estereo, Weegee's and Punch House will supply the cocktails. There will also be beer from Revolution Brewing and grub from eateries like Parson's Chicken & Fish and Longman & Eagle. Guest DJs will spin tunes.
Tickets cost $27.37 each and can be bought online. Proceeds will go toward the dog park project, which was first proposed about a year ago.
Dog parks "provide essential off-the-leash exercise for our four-legged friends and help build stronger communities. Just as parents get to know their neighbors at a playground, doggie parents gets to know each other at a dog park," the event page reads.
"Let’s help build a stronger community around Kosciuszko Park and bring a much-needed dog park to the west side of Logan Square."
The push to build a dog park on the northwestern corner of Kosciuszko Park, commonly referred to as Koz Park, began last year. Neighbors teamed up with Ald. Milly Santiago (31st), who ended up putting the project on her participatory budget list.
Though the park advisory council has successfully raised $100,000 thanks to Santiago and other benefactors, the group needs additional financial support to make the dog park a reality.
