LAKEVIEW — There's a new salon in town, but you don't have to break up with your hairdresser to enjoy Blo Blow Dry Bar's services.

Blo specializes in blowouts and makeup services—no cuts, no color. It opened Monday at 3821 N. Southport Ave., and it is the first Illinois location of the 10-year-old company.

A blowout starts at $45, but for its opening week, the salon is offering $29 blowouts (through Sunday). Five dollars of every blowout this week will go to Cradles to Crayons, which provides everyday essentials to children in need. Patrons will also be treated to complimentary makeup touch-ups and snacks.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, and refreshments will be provided.

Blo in the Southport Corridor is owned by Tanya Popp, who also owns a Blo location in St. Louis. Popp plans to open two more Chicago locations of the salon by the end of next year.
