Jose Romero Hernandez, 21, Shot Dead In Logan Square; Another Man Wounded

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man died after a Saturday night shooting in Logan Square, police said.

A second man, 20, was wounded in the attack.

At 6:26 p.m., the two were walking down the street in the 2700 block of North Monticello Avenue when someone in a dark-colored SUV pulled up next to them, police said. Someone inside the SUV fired shots at the men.

The 21-year-old was hit in his head and he was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Jose Carlos Romero Hernandez, of the 4900 block of South Paulina, was pronounced dead at 11:12 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 20-year-old was hit in his left thigh and he was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody.
