LINCOLN SQUARE — Eclipse glasses went from national obsession to trash in a matter of minutes Monday.

But hang onto the special solar specs, folks.

Astronomers Without Borders, which brings people together around a common interest in astronomy, will be collecting the glasses to send to schools in South America and Asia for use during 2019's eclipse, which is expected to cross those continents.

The organization still is in the process of finalizing details for the collection program. Do NOT send directly to Astronomers Without Borders.

Collection partners will be announced via the organization's Facebook page and newsletter (sign up here).
