BRONZEVILLE — A man who carjacked a woman early Saturday is now believed to also be behind two more armed robberies in Bronzeville, police said.

Police sent out an alert Monday about three incidents involving a man armed with a handgun robbing people of their wallet or car.

On Monday, a woman said a man with a gun attacked her at 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Prairie Shores Apartments building at 2851 S. Martin Luther King Drive, taking her car and leaving her bruised.

Police said they now believe that carjacking is connected to two armed robberies on Sunday where victims also described a man with a handgun with an extended clip.

The man allegedly robbed someone walking in the 300 block of East Pershing Road at 8 p.m. Sunday, according to police. The victim initially refused to comply, but did once the man pulled a gun, police said.

Later, at 10:10 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, another person reported a man with a similar gun demanding car keys.  In that case, the victim handed over the keys, but the man drove off in another car when he saw the victim calling authorities, police said.

Police said there is no one in custody in any of the robberies.

Detectives should have good leads, though. After the woman’s stolen car was recovered on the Far Southwest Side Sunday, police found cash, marijuana and a wallet with a man’s ID still inside.

Police did not provide a description of the car used in the second armed robbery Sunday.
