CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was shot to death in Grand Crossing on Monday, police said.
At 10 a.m., officers responding to a call of a person shot found the man in the 6800 block of South Harper Avenue, police said.
The man had been shot in his lower back and he was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
The man was identified as Rakeem Simmons, of the 1400 block of East 68th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Simmons was pronounced dead at 10:57 a.m.
No one was in custody.
