CHICAGO — A man has died one year after he was shot in Logan Square.

At 1:30 a.m. July 31, 2016, the man — later identified as Lavatus McCullough — was in the 2000 block of North Kedzie Avenue when he got into a "domestic-related dispute" with a woman, police said. The woman shot McCullough in his neck.

McCullough was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said at the time.

McCullough, 36, of the 400 block of West Goethe Street, died at 1:58 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy revealed he died from complications of a remote gunshot wound in his neck in a homicide.

Samantha Santiago, 29, was arrested days before McCullough's death — July 22, 2017 — after she was identified as the woman who shot McCullough, police said.

Santiago was charged with attempted murder in the incident, police said. It was not immediately clear if those charges will change with McCullough's death.

Santiago's bail was set at $950,000, and her next court date is Aug. 21.
