PORTAGE PARK — Between the two levels of Retro Fitness gym, 4901 W. Irving Park Road, sits enough alcohol to carry a sold-out crowd of Cubs fans through a double-header at Wrigley Field.

On Saturday, more than a year after Binny's Beverage Depot announced its plans to occupy the rehabilitated Bank of America building in the Six Corners Shopping District, the liquor emporium finally invited the public to have their run of the place.

The superstore's 36th location — and seventh inside the city — boasts more than 10,000 unique labels, including at least 1,500 beers, 2,000 sprits and 3,000 wines.

The Six Corners outpost also includes a humidor with more than 1,000 cigars, an amenity not found at every store location, Binny's spokesman Greg Versch said.

"Being in the footprint of an old bank gives it a really unique feel, and the humidor and faux-wood floor add to that," Versch said.

Plus, the store's distance from Downtown adds up to another unique bonus: free parking. A supermarket-sized lot sits behind the building on Lamon Avenue.

The years-long redevelopment of the former bank building and adjoining properties will see an Elly's Pancake House and a Culver's drive-thru open on the block by the end of 2017, property owner Charles Cui said.

"There's a definitely a rejuvination that's coming into Portage Park, and we're excited to be a part of that," Versch said of the location.
