LOGAN SQUARE — The neighborhood's largest park is celebrating late summer and early fall in style.

Kosciuszko Park, 2732 N. Avers Ave., is hosting a few family-friendly events in the coming months, including a free concert and "doggy social" from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday.

At the social, neighbors are encouraged to bring their pups to the park to check out the site of the planned dog park. Latin-fusion group Son Monarcas and Eastern European brass band Black Bear Combo are scheduled to perform.

The event is sponsored by Night Out in the Parks, Kosciuszko Park Advisory Council, Independent Artists and neighborhood businesses.

Then, on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, the park will host "Midnight Circus in the Parks," a group of traveling circus performers that celebrated their 10th anniversary last year.

The program will bring acrobats, aerialists and a few talented pets and kids to the park for a 1½-hour circus performance under a big-top tent.

Tickets cost $5-$20. Children 2 or younger get in free.

All proceeds will toward the Kosciuszko Park Advisory Council and the advisory council that represents Unity Park, which is also hosting the series.
