CHICAGO — A group of people attacked two men near Humboldt Park's namesake park Friday night, police said.

At 8:30 p.m., a 30-year-old man and 19-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk in the 2600 block of West North Avenue when a group of four men or boys walked up to them, police said. The four people began shooting at and stabbing the men.

The 30-year-old man was shot in his back and leg, and the 19-year-old man was stabbed in his abdomen, police said. The two were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

The men were documented gang members, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
