LINCOLN PARK — The Sheffield Music Fest & Garden Walk is back right where local residents seem to think it belongs this weekend.

After mulling a shift to put bands at Trebes Park, the Sheffield Neighborhood Association will hold its 49th annual Music Fest & Garden Walk with a main entrance back at Sheffield and Webster avenues from noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Suggested donation is $10.

That corner will also be where the main music stage is located, with Jessica Lea Mayfield opening for Foxygen at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, and Lucky Boys Confusion opening for We the Kings at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, tickets $20 in advance and $25 onsite. Another music stage will operate with a series of bands at Sheffield and Belden Avenue for the duration both days.

It's actually a triple feature, as more than 100 neighborhood gardens will be open for tours both days, and the sixth annual Craft Beer Fest also offers tastings from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. both days, with $35 buying 15 tickets for 3-ounce samples from the more than 70 microbrews and 35 more local, regional and national breweries.

Back on the music beat, Chicago guitarist Michael Vogus, of Burnside & Hooker, has organized the second annual Localpalooza, a fundraiser for the Patrick Grange Memorial Foundation for ALS Research. Last year it was at Schubas in Lakeview, but this year it moves up to Schubas' bigger sibling venue, Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Ivorys headline, supported by independent hip-hop artist Rich Jones, indie soul band Honey & the 45s, Americana-punk group Bad Bad Meow, indie rock band Namorado, garage-rockabilly trio the Dyes and opener Elle Casazza. A $10 donation is requested, and it goes to benefit the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or, as most people know it, Lou Gerhrig's Disease.

Mario's Place Barber Shop, 2347 N. Southport Ave., marked its 30th anniversary in February, but now that it's summer it invites anyone to come in and celebrate from noon-2 p.m. Saturday with a cookout offering free hot dogs, Polish sausages and the like. That's right, if you're walking along the street stop in for some free grub. And just maybe a summer cut before it's too late.
