CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was found shot to death in Chatham early Friday, police said.
At 2:45 a.m., officers were called to the 8000 block of South Vernon Avenue for a report of a person shot, police said. They found the man in a double-parked car with the car's engine still running.
The man had been shot in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The man was identified as Gregory Williams Jr., of suburban Blue Island, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Williams was pronounced dead at 3:10 a.m. and an autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
The circumstances of the shooting were unknown, police said, and no further information was immediately available.
