Shedrick McPherson Jr., 31, Killed In Bronzeville Shooting; 2 Wounded

CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man was slain and two others wounded in a shooting in Bronzeville early Wednesday, police said.

At 12:01 a.m., at least two of the victims were standing on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 47th Street when someone fired shots, police said.

A 33-year-old man was hit in his abdomen and he took himself to Mercy Hospital. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

A 45-year-old man was hit in his chest and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

A third man was hit multiple times throughout his body. He was driven to Northwestern Hospital, police said.

That man, Shedrick McPherson Jr., 31, of the 8400 block of South Bennett, was pronounced dead at 12:21 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
