LINCOLN PARK — Goose Island has a summery new beer, and you can try it Thursday at the zoo.

Goose Island releases its second Fulton & Wood product, Cascara Grisette, described as a farmhouse-style ale Thursday during a Farm-in-the-Zoo event at Lincoln Park Zoo, 1911 N. Stockton Drive. The event runs from 7-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, of course for those 21 and older.

This grisette is described as a type of saison that, combined with cascara, a dried fruit from coffee cherries, creates what Goose Island calls "a crisp, refreshing dry ale with hibiscus and raspberry notes."

Whatever it is, sounds summery.

Fulton & Wood is considered Goose Island's innovation brand, made at its brewery at Fulton and Wood streets on the Near West Side. Its original release was last year's 1516, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the German Beer Purity Law.

Goose Island closed its original brewpub at 1800 N. Clybourn Ave. last winter for an upgrade and renovation that was slated to be done this summer.
