Malcolm Gayles, 26, Killed In Englewood Shooting; Another Wounded

CHICAGO — Two men were shot, one fatally, while playing basketball in Englewood on Tuesday.

The victims were in the 5800 block of South Shields Avenue when someone in a light-colored Chevy Impala opened fire shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said in a statement.

A 26-year-old man was shot in torso, police said.

Malcolm Gayles, of the 6000 block of South State Street, was pronounced dead at 3:51 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

A 30-year-old man was still in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after being shot in his chin and left leg, police said. He was also taken to Stroger Hospital.

No one was in custody.
