Armed Robbers Strike 7 Times This Week In Lincoln Park

LINCOLN PARK — The Near North Police District issued a community alert Wednesday after a string of armed robberies Monday and Tuesday in Lincoln Park.

The robberies were along Webster, Dickens and Belden avenues, Halsted and Sedgwick street and Fullerton Parkway.

According to police, four armed young men robbed the victims.

The incidents took place Monday:

• At 10:15 p.m. in the 600 block of West Webster Street

• Between 10:15-10:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Halsted Street

Five more armed robberies took place Tuesday:

• At 4:40 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Street

• At 3:35 p.m. in the 700 block of West Dickens Avenue

• At 10:22 p.m. in the 600 block of West Webster Street

• At 10:48 p.m. in the 500 block of West Belden Avenue

• At 10:56 p.m. in the 500 block of West Fullerton Parkway

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) said in an email to constituents that police "assured us that they have increased patrols to respond to these incidents. They are working with [DePaul] University to distribute safety flyers."
