CHICAGO — Jaime Arceo, 19, was killed and another man wounded while trying to stop a robbery at his father's restaurant Sunday morning in Montclare, officials said.

At 2:50 a.m., the men, 19 and 22, were in the restaurant in the 7100 block of West Diversey Avenue when a man in a ski mask with a gun walked in, police said. The two men tried to stop the robber and the thief shot them.

The 19-year-old man was hit in his right shoulder and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Arceo, of suburban Elmwood Park, was pronounced dead at 5:04 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his back in a homicide.

The 22-year-old man was hit in his back and taken to Loyola Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The robber took money from the restaurant's register and got away, police said.

No one was in custody.
