LINCOLN SQUARE — Forget the Windy City, Chicago should be known as Water World.
"Chicago's Fabulous Fountains" is the newest book from author and historian Greg Borzo, who makes the case that Chicago could easily give Kansas City, self-proclaimed City of Fountains, a run for its money.
Borzo will take people on a virtual tour of scores of Chicago's more than 100 public fountains — some of them famous, many of them overlooked and taken for granted — during a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Sulzer Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
Learn about the fountains' history and architecture, and Borzo will also share stories about fountains that no longer exist or were never built. Julia Thiel's photographs bring the waterworks to life.
The event is sponsored by the Ravenswood Lake View Historical Association.
