LINCOLN PARK — The battle is joined on low-price clothing near the corner of Clark Street and Diversey Parkway.

Acadia Realty Trust said it's signed T.J. Maxx as the main tenant for its soon to be almost completely renovated two-story building at 2747 N. Clark St.

Acadia Director of Development Brian Bacharach said at a Lincoln Park community meeting late last year that he expected an anchor tenant on the ground floor, but T.J. Maxx is planning to take the second floor, with a first-floor entrance. The cosmetics company Bluemercury will share the ground floor.

T.J. Maxx will move in just down and across the street from a Banana Republic Factory Store that opened late last year at 2720 N. Clark St. T.J. Maxx also has an existing outlet at 2840 N. Broadway that would figure to be closed to clear the way for the new store.

T.J. Maxx formally declined to confirm the move, but Acadia took the liberty of removing the mystery in a rendering released to the public.

Acadia's Christopher Conlon confirmed a story Wednesday in the Tribune on the building's new tenants.

Architect Steve Weiss has said he expects the building to be done late this year or early next, adding, "It isn't a small project, but it'll be pretty quick."
