UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — Bottomline Boutique — an upscale resale shop in Ukrainian Village that uses profits to assist the unemployed looking for work — will celebrate its opening with a preview party on Thursday.

Located at 2208 W Chicago Ave., Bottomline Boutique offers its customers "high-end, fashion apparel and accessories at a fraction of the cost — all housed within its classy, urban chic environment," according to a news release.

Money funneled to its sister nonprofit helps unemployed and lower-income residents build job interviewing skills and a professional wardrobe.

The location will serve as the new headquarters for 10-year-old nonprofit Bridge to Success, which moved its office and retail thrift boutique from 1236 S. Halsted St. in University Village to Ukrainian Village.

Bridge to Success helps about 250 people each year with job interviewing and preparation skills and with obtaining a new wardrobe at no cost, a spokesman said.

"Many of the organizations that send us clients include job training agencies such as Year Up, America Works Illinois and National Able. And personal referrals are from The Veteran's Administration. These veterans donate their time in exchange for the resources that we provide," the spokesman said.

Set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, the Bottomline preview party is open to the public and will showcase the store and its spring collection, along with complimentary wine and snacks.

After Thursday's party, the boutique will close and then reopen on March 10.

Currently, the store showcases several racks of gently worn designer clothes, accessories and shoes, bearing Armani, Theory, BCBG, Free People, Eskander, French Connection and other labels. Most of the items are priced under $100.

Bridge to Success board member and volunteer Marcia Fritz said that the nonprofit selected Ukrainian Village as its new headquarters because it was close to public transportation and the area seemed to fit the demographic for frugal shoppers who might want designer clothing.

After its March 10 opening, hours for Bottomline Boutique will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and possibly noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays if there is a demand for Sunday shopping hours.
