WICKER PARK — A ramen restaurant wants fans to post videos of themselves slurping ramen loudly and says it will award three winners each week in March.

Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya's month-long "Ramen Slurping Contest" begins Friday — on the restaurant's one-year anniversary — and ends March 31.

"In Japan, they believe the louder you slurp, the better the food is. It is actually a way to pay respect to the chef," owner Kevin Yu explained in a news release.

To enter, diners should record their best slurp while dining on Kizuki's ramen and post a five to six second video on Kizuki's Facebook page using hashtag #kizukislurp4life.

Kizuki will choose three winners each week in March to win a free bowl of ramen.
