UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — Electronic dance music festival Spring Awakening will return to the Near West Side this summer.

Festival organizers announced the three-day music festival will again be staged in Addams/Medill Park in University Village June 9-11, according to the fest's website.

Three-day general admission passes are now on sale for $159. VIP passes, for patrons 21 and up, are on sale for $249.

After first announcing Spring Awakening 2016 would take place at Jackson Park in Woodlawn, the fest was eventually staged in Addams/Medill Park last year.

While Ald. Jason Ervin fielded few formal complaints about the fest last year, some neighbors described the fest as "super loud" and disruptive.

Founded as a concert series in 2008, Spring Awakening promoters decided to launch a two-day outdoor music festival at Soldier Field in 2012, where it was hosted through 2015. But a scheduling conflict with the Copa America soccer tournament booted the fest from Soldier Field last year, and Spring Awakening was forced to find a new home.

Addams/Medill Park also hosted Ruido Fest, Riot Fest's Latin alternative music festival, and Reggae Fest Chicago last summer.
