CHICAGO — A city worker who made "sexually suggestive comments" to two senior citizens at a city facility should be fired, the city's watchdog announced Wednesday.

The employee of the city's Department of Fleet and Facility Maintenance, who was not named in Inspector General Joe Ferguson's quarterly report released Wednesday, has appealed his termination, according to the report.

The employee's comments included asking the women uninvited and probing questions at a city-run senior facility, according to the report.

At least one of the seniors feared running into the employee, and was uncomfortable using the facility, according to the report.

The employee's conduct violated the city’s personnel rules, and the inspector general recommended that he be disciplined, according to the report.

As soon as department officials were notified by the inspector general's findings, the employee was removed "from any contact with the public and swiftly terminated," said Fleet and Facility Maintenance Commissioner David J. Reynolds.

A final determination on whether the employee's firing will be upheld is set for early this year, according to the report.
