KENWOOD — The 4th Ward race is finally heating up with the first forum with all the candidates.

The Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference is hosting the first candidates’ forum since the ballot was set at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at Kenwood Academy, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave.

Fylynne Crawford, conference board member and owner of Kimbark Laundry, will moderate the forum with the five candidates.

The audience will also be able to ask questions of the candidates, Ald. Sophia King, Gregory Seal Livingston, Ebony Lucas, Gerald Scott McCarthy and Marcellus Moore.

The candidates are all running to fill out the remainder of the term of Will Burns, who resigned as alderman in March to take a job at AirBnB. King was appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel in April to serve as alderman until the special election could be held on Feb. 28.

The forum is expected to be the first with all the candidates.

King had refused to participate in any forums until the ballot was set, which was finalized in Dec. 29.
