CHICAGO — Steven Freeman, 33, has died nearly two weeks after being shot at a Christmas Day party where seven people were hit by gunfire, officials said.
The shooting happened about 9:20 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 8600 block of South Maryland Avenue, police said. The victims — six men and one woman — were on a home's porch when a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt walked out of an alley and fired shots at the group.
Freeman, of the 7600 block of South Normal, was wounded in the shooting and died at 1:43 a.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from complications of a gunshot wound in his back in a homicide.
Roy Gill III, 21, and James Gill, 18, were also killed in the shooting, according to the Medical Examiner's Office. Four others were wounded.
