WRIGLEYVILLE — In what is becoming an annual tradition, Billy Joel will play at Wrigley Field in August as part of the ballpark's summer concert series.

The best-selling musician will perform Aug. 11, marking his fourth year in a row and a record-setting sixth overall appearance at the Friendly Confines.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 13, with a pre-sale for American Express customers Monday.

Joel has a full roster of ballpark concerts set for 2017. He'll have the first live concert at the Atlanta Braves' new Sun Trust Park in April and also announced shows at Fenway Park and Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park in August.

Joel's unforgettable performance in 2015 featured an impromptu appearance from Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer, who danced on Joel's piano during "Uptown Girl."

Joel is the third-best-selling solo recording artist in the country, with 33 Top 40 hits. The six-time Grammy winner is known for classic rock hits like "New York State of Mind" and "Only The Good Die Young."

The Aug. 11 show is the fifth concert announced for this summer at Wrigley Field. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will play for the first time at Wrigley Field during their 40th anniversary tour June 29. That same weekend, Dead & Company will make their performance debut at Wrigley Field with two shows June 30 and July 1,

James Taylor will perform with Bonnie Raitt July 17.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by an entity controlled by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
