String of 5 Armed Robberies Hits Woodlawn In November

WOODLAWN — Chicago Police issued an alert Tuesday after a string of least five armed robberies in Woodlawn over the last month that police believe could all be by the same two men.

Police said all five incidents took place between Nov. 7 and Friday and involved two men armed with a silver handgun or a black revolver. The incidents happened just off 63rd Street between Ingleside and Woodlawn Avenues.

Police on Tuesday said there was not yet a description of either of the men beyond generalities that the men were between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 and 150-170 pounds.

There were no reported injuries in any of the five incidents, according to police.

The robberies include:

• 7 p.m. on Nov. 7 on the 6300 block of South Ellis Avenue

• 2:45 p.m. on Nov. 15 on the 6400 block of South Greenwood Avenue

• 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 15 on the 6400 block of South Ingleside Avenue

• 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 on the 6300 block of South Greenwood Avenue

• 10:50 p.m. on Friday on the 1200 block of East 64th Street

Police are asking anyone who has any information related to the robberies to contact the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8380.
