CHICAGO — Six firefighters had to be hospitalized for breathing problems and chest pains after they helped fight a fire in West Town.
The firefighters felt sick after battling a 12:30 a.m. fire in the 1400 block of West Huron Street, according to the Chicago Tribune.
They were taken to area hospitals, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a Chicago fire spokesman, and were treated and released.
What caused the firefighters' symptoms was unknown, but Hernandez said there might have been been an irritant that came out at earlier fire.
