WEST LOOP — About 500 people in the West Loop were without power Monday afternoon, a ComEd spokesman confirmed.
The outage was caused by a cable fault at South Peoria Street and West Jackson Boulevard at 3 p.m. Monday, said Royce Strehan, a ComEd spokesman. As of 4:30 p.m., power was restored to some customers, but 230 remained without power, according to a ComEd outage map.
ComEd crews are on the scene and hope to have power restored to all affected customers by 5:15 p.m. Monday, he said.
Strehan did not know how many buildings were affected by the outage. A West Loop neighbor confirmed the condo building at 225 S. Sangamon St. was among those affected.
